Devin Funchess

While many fans may still be upset that the Green Bay Packers failed to address the receiver position in the draft, one new addition who shouldn’t be overlooked is Devin Funchess.

Funchess would miss just about all of the 2019 season – his first in Indianapolis – with a collar bone injury. However, prior to that, he had some productive seasons in Carolina, and he is now the second most accomplished receiver on this Packers team behind only Adams.

His best season came in 2017 where he totaled 840 yards on 13.3 yards per catch with eight touchdowns. Although in 2018 his production dipped to 549 yards and four touchdowns, that still would have made him Green Bay’s second-leading receiver in 2019.

Drops have been an issue for Funchess over his career, and with Rodgers at quarterback, it’s certainly something that needs to be cleaned up. But at 6’4″ – 225 pounds, Funchess is another big receiving target who can line up out wide or in the slot. And what really has me intrigued is the combination of him and Rodgers in the red zone.

Funchess is only 26-years-old and a former second-round pick, while Allen Lazard is penciled in at W2 prior to camp – and I understand why – given Funchess’ past success, I’m very interested to see him in this Green Bay Packers’ offense.
