Snacks Harrison IDL

That’s right, another run-stuffer. At 31-years-old Damon “Snacks” Harrison has proven to be a very durable interior defensive lineman over his career. Since becoming a full-time starter in 2013 with the New York Jets, Harrison has missed just one start over the last seven seasons would give this Green Bay Packers’ run defense an immediate boost.

From 2015 to 2018, Harrison was one of the better interior run defenders in the game. During that stretch, he led all interior defensive linemen each season in Pro Football Focus’ run-stop metric, which are run plays that result in a loss for the offense.

And although he wasn’t nearly as dominant in 2019 as he has been in past seasons, Harrison still finished 15th among all interior defensive linemen in run-stops. Certainly not bad at all for what was a down season by his standards, which makes signing him as a rotational player seem like an easy move to make.

With Harrison we aren’t going to see eye-popping pass rush numbers, that’s just not his game, but what he can provide is help against the run. And as we all saw, that is what this Green Bay Packers’ defense needs.
