Khris Middleton 50-40-90 Season

When the NBA season was suddenly halted, it cut short one of the most efficient shooting seasons ever by Khris Middleton. There are only eight players in NBA history to ever achieve 50 percent field goal shooting, 40 percent from behind the arc, and 90 percent from the free-throw line. This exclusive club contains the likes of Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Stephy Curry, and yes, Malcolm Brogdon last season.

Currently, Middleton is at 49.9 percent from the field, 41.8 percent from three, and 90.8 percent from the line. All three of those are right on the borderline and he has just eight games that will either make or break his bid for this legendary accomplishment.

In terms of field goals, if he would have made one more shot he would be at exactly 50 percent for the season. He’s taken 850 shots and made 424 of them. Middleton averages 15.5 shots per game so he’ll take about 124 shots in the final eight games. He’ll have to make 63 of those shots to achieve exactly a 50 percent field goal percentage.

Three-pointers are where he has the most breathing room with a whole 1.8 percent to spare. He takes 5.8 threes per game which means he’ll take about 46 threes once the season resumes. He only needs to make 13 of those, or 28 percent to maintain his 40 percent three point season so that is almost a lock.

Finally, free throws are where he has the least room for error. While he is above the 90 percent threshold, misses have a larger effect on a higher percentage. He’ll take about 28 free throws in the final games and he’ll need to make 24 of them to keep above the 90 percent line.

This very well could come down to the final game of the season and I know I’ll be on the edge of my seat every time he looks to shoot the ball. Please no full-court heaves Khris.
