These five members of the Green Bay Packers may find themselves on the bubble of the roster once team activities kick off this summer.

There are a number of surprise cuts across the NFL and even some with the Green Bay Packers every season. Sometimes we have an idea who that might be, and sometimes those cuts come out of nowhere (see: Mike Daniels).

This year, there are a number of young players who must take the next step if they want to stick around Titletown for a while longer. Guys who were drafted in the early rounds, but haven’t quite lived up to the hype.

Let’s take a look at five players who might be on the roster bubble this summer.

Tim Boyle

Tim Boyle was Aaron Rodgers’ backup quarterback last season, but might struggle to make the roster once again. He was alright in the preseason and didn’t get an opportunity to play any meaningful regular season games with Rodgers staying healthy the whole season. That’s a good thing for the Packers, as he was one of the weaker backup quarterbacks in the NFL last season. With Green Bay selecting quarterback Jordan Love in the first round, it would take an extremely poor performance by Love to not win the backup job. That means the Packers must make a decision about keeping a third quarterback around–something that will decide Boyle’s fate.

Oren Burks

A third-round pick in 2018, there was considerable hype around Oren Burks when he arrived in Green Bay. A converted safety, Burks was going to try his hand at linebacker and give the Packers some much-needed speed at the position. Unfortunately, he’s never been able to get on the field for consistent defensive snaps and could be on the outside looking in if he struggles again.

Montravius Adams

Another third-round pick, this time in 2017, Montravius Adams’ play has had his teammates and coaches raving about him the last two training camps. Unfortunately, he’s completely disappeared each regular season. The Packers NEED help on the defensive line so Adams will get every opportunity, but if he can’t capitalize, the Packers will have no trouble moving on from him.

Josh Jackson

Josh Jackson continues the trend of high draft picks, as he was a second-rounder in 2018. There were major question marks about his speed and those questions have proven to be legitimate. Jackson hasn’t been able to stick with wide receivers, but will get another opportunity with Tramon Williams still a free agent.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

After starting the season hot, including two games with at least 99 receiving yards, Marquez Valdes-Scantling disappeared down the stretch. He only posted five receptions over the final nine games. The Packers brought in Devin Funchess and Equanimeous St. Brown will be healthy as well. They might keep as many wide receivers as they have in the past which means Valdes-Scantling needs to get his act together and prove his speed can be a useful tool.
