Round 2, Pick 35: David Bakhtiari, OT

If Step 1 is finding your franchise quarterback, then Step 2 is protecting your franchise quarterback. And that is exactly what Demovsky did as he brings a familiar face back to Titletown.

When it comes to protecting your quarterback, there isn’t a better tackle in the game right now. In fact, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required), over the last four seasons, Bakhtiari has taken 2,850 pass-blocking snaps and has been credited with only 11 sacks. That’s right, only Eleven sacks.

Protecting the quarterback is always the name of the game, but when you have a rookie quarterback coming back from a significant injury, it’s of the utmost importance. Through two-rounds and given how the board has fallen, I’d say Demovsky is off to a great start.

Round 3, Pick 94: Darius Slay, CB

With the snake draft it was a long wait before the Green Bay Packers were back on the clock in Round 3, but they ended up taking cornerback Darius Slay. While I understand the cornerback selection, if I were the one drafting, I would have taken Frank Clark and his 21 sacks over the past two seasons or Kenny Clark. Corner is important, but getting after the quarterback is a higher priority on my to-do list.

With that said, the Packers are getting an excellent player in Slay. Over the past four seasons, he hasn’t allowed a completion percentage of over 59 percent and he’s also added 15 interceptions along with 43 pass breakups during that same span.
