These five up and coming players deserve a lot of recognition for being the best young players on the Green Bay Packers’ roster.

With an average age of 26.6 last season, the Green Bay Packers‘ were the eighth oldest NFL roster in 2019. There likely won’t be a huge change heading into the 2020 season when the analysis is completed and released, however, that doesn’t mean they don’t have good, young talent on their roster.

Green Bay actually has some very good up and coming players and guys who made major contributions last season despite being under 25-years-old. Let’s take a look at their five best players under 25 as their age currently stands.

Allen Lazard

At 24-years-old, Allen Lazard has a chance to build upon his strong finish to his 2019 campaign and earn the second wide receiver spot opposite Davante Adams. It won’t be an easy battle, as Devin Funchess will presumably come in ready to go after missing basically all of last season with an injury. Lazard is a big-bodied possession receiver and someone who developed trust with Aaron Rodgers as the season went on. It’s exciting to see what he can do after his first full season in the NFL.

Darnell Savage

A first-round pick in 2019, Darnell Savage is only 22-years-old and the youngest player on this list. He had a good rookie year and his coaching staff and teammates expect him to build upon his initial success. He can fly all over the field and man the deep backfield. Even with a solid first year, I fully expect him to take another step forward in 2020.

Elgton Jenkins

It’s difficult to judge offensive linemen, but at 24-years-old, Elgton Jenkins certainly earned a spot on this list. He took over as the starting left guard in Week 3 not due to injury, but as a result of his stellar play. He was one of the best rookie linemen in the NFL last season and should only get better going into Year 2. The left side of the line should be a strong suit for the Packers.

Jaire Alexander

Despite entering his third NFL season, Jaire Alexander (23-years-old) is the second-youngest player on this list and one of the cornerbacks with the brightest futures in the league. He’s extremely fast and physical and doesn’t back down from anyone. His height (5-foot-10) is the only thing that holds him back. Alexander keeps getting better and better and is the best coverage man on the Packers.

Kenny Clark

Kenny Clark (still only 24-years-old) is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, regardless of age. There’s no saying where the maligned defensive line would’ve been without him last season. Despite playing in a 3-4 with his primary responsibilities include eating up blockers, he puts up numbers like he’s in a 4-3 alignment. He’s had six sacks in each of the past two seasons including seven quarterback hits and nine tackles for loss in 2019. He’s entering a contract year in 2020 and will get paid big bucks, by the Packers or someone else, in free agency.
