Green Bay Packers Key 2022 Free Agents

  • Davante Adams

Now the Green Bay Packers certainly have more unrestricted free agents than just Davante Adams, but at this moment he is the only one that I would categorize as “key.” Other free agents include Christian Kirksey, Rick Wagner, Equanimeous St. Brown, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Lucas Patrick, Oren Burks, and J.K. Scott.

Maybe over the next two seasons, one or two of those players becomes key, but they aren’t right now.

Adams has developed into one of the best receivers in the league and during the 2022 offseason, he will still be just 29-years-old. And for a team that is lacking consistent playmaking ability at the receiver position, re-signing him seems like a no-brainer. After all, we did see Jordy Nelson have success into his 30s but it’s worth pointing out his production did drop during his age 32 and 33 seasons.

With that said, the 2021 wide receiver class is supposedly better than this year’s crop. So maybe we finally see Green Bay spend an early-round pick on the position as a potential replacement for Adams. Similar to what could be happening with A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones.

Or maybe they end up feeling comfortable with Allen Lazard or the aforementioned St. Brown or Valdes-Scantling step up the next two seasons. Whether it’s the draft or a younger receiver already on the roster, Gutey will be looking for alternative options, just in case.

If I had to make a prediction, I would guess that Adams is back. However, at this stage of the game, we are still too far away from 2022 to consider his re-signing a guarantee.
