Packers: Top 10 Free Agents Remaining Heading into Summer

These are the ten best remaining free agents for the Green Bay Packers as we head into the beginning of summer.
With the NFL attempting to play out their offseason as normal despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we are heading into the beginning of summer with plenty of question marks surrounding the Green Bay Packers. The good news is they still have some cap space to sign a free agent if they so choose.
Ken Ingalls is a great account to follow on twitter as someone who breaks down the Packers’ cap situation in understandable and visual ways. According to his account, Green Bay has $13.8 million in cap space and about $8.7 million to spend. Plenty of room to bring in an impactful free agent.

There are still a number of players available who could help the Packers in 2020. Let’s take a look at the top 10 players out there who could help them.
Reshad Jones, S
Reshad Jones has spent his entire career with the Miami Dolphins, earning two trips to the Pro Bowl during that time. Although starting safety isn’t a position of need given Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage are holding down the spots, defensive coordinator Mike Pettine does use a fifth defensive back in a starting role and Jones could fill that role admirably.
Dre Kirkpatrick, CB
Similar to safety, the Packers are covered at their starting cornerback positions with Jaire Alexander and Kevin King. However, they have little depth after those two, and Dre Kirkpatrick could help immensely. He has good size and athletic ability and could be a younger, better version of what Tramon Williams was last season.
Timmy Jernigan, DL
Defensive line is one of the biggest weaknesses on the Packers despite the presence of Kenny Clark. Timmy Jernigan was recently released by the Philadelphia Eagles and could make an immediate impact in Green Bay. Only 27-years-old, he has a lot left in the tank so why not give him a call?
Kelvin Beachum, OT
Even though the Packers signed Ricky Wagner to start at right tackle, they could use more depth at the position. Kelvin Beachum would likely beat Wagner out for a starting job and this is more a case of best player available instead of a need. Still, Beachum is available and would improve the Packer’s offensive line.
Mike Daniels, DL
A familiar face, Mike Daniels really wants to come back to Green Bay. He was abruptly released last summer and spent the 2019 season with the Detroit Lions. Even if he’s only a shell of his former self, he can still help the Packers’ line by providing depth and a player who leaves everything on the field. What do they have to lose?
Eric Reid, S
Eric Reid is the best safety remaining and could help the Packers both on the field and in a mentoring role to Savage. He spent the last two seasons with the Carolina Panthers and is an extremely versatile player. He can move all over the secondary and even play some linebacker–that sounds right up Pettin’es alley.
Darqueze Dennard, CB
Similar to Kirkpatrick, Darqueze Dennard would be a huge addition to the Packers and spent his entire career with the Cincinnati Bengals. Only 28-years-old, Green Bay would be getting a good coverage corner in the prime of his career.
Damon Harrison, DL
The best defensive lineman remaining in free agency, Damon “Snacks” Harrison would be a huge get for the Packers. He’d be an every-down type of player and someone who could help stop the run–something they struggled mightily at last season.
Josh Gordon, WR
The Packers didn’t add a wide receiver in the NFL Draft as many analysts expected. However, they could dip their toes back in the free agency waters. Josh Gordon’s suspension is lifted and he still has something left in the tank. He’d be a dynamic weapon and would certainly help Green Bay’s chances on offense.

Logan Ryan, CB
The best skill position player available, Logan Ryan would be a great third cornerback. He’s spent his career with the New England Patriots and Tennesee Titans–including being there during Matt Lafleur’s tenure. Ryan is a bit undersized, but should fit well in either the slot or the outside; providing Pettine with plenty of options in his secondary.
