Milwaukee Bucks: Ranking the Last 10 First Round Draft Picks
8. D.J. Wilson (17th overall in 2017)
D.J. Wilson’s career has waxed and waned since being selected 17th overall in 2017. After a slow rookie season, he had a bit of a hot streak during the winter months of 2018-19. He found his outside shot and flashed his defensive versatility–prompting fans to launch #FreeDJ campaigns on social media. However, he found himself on the bench once the regulars returned and hasn’t been able to find the court since. He’ll be in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract in 2020-21 and it will be interesting to see where his career goes after that.
7. Thon Maker (10th overall in 2016)
Entering the 2016 draft, there was a lot of hype around Thon Maker, but even more question marks. A good number of draft analysts had him pegged as a second-round prospect. Milwaukee shocked the world when they took him 10th overall. He had his moments where it looked like he was destined for greatness (or at least as a capable role player), but he eventually bottomed out in Milwaukee. They shipped him to Detroit at the trade deadline in 2019 where he still hasn’t been able to find a sweet spot in the rotation.
