Green Bay Packers: 3 CB Targets in 2021 NFL Draft
By Isaac Greig
Jevon Holland – Oregon, Junior
Jevon Holland is a versatile defensive back who has seen snaps at nickel linebacker, deep safety, and slot corner. At 6’1″ – 200 pounds he does not have the frame to play nickel linebacker consistently at the next level and while I’m sure he’d be a successful safety, his best position is slot corner.
From the slot Holland can take advantage of his versatility. He’s a box score superstar, recording pressures, tackles for loss, defended passes, and interceptions. A lot of interceptions. As a matter of fact, Holland has the 3rd most interceptions (9) for returning players over the last two years. Holland sees the field as well as any defensive back in this class and is almost always in the right place at the right time.
However, Holland can get caught looking into the backfield, stopping his feet, and falling for late-breaking routes. He doesn’t have elite recovery speed or athleticism, and Holland has to work on finishing his tackles. There’s room to grow, but there’s also so much to love about Holland’s game as well.
For the Green Bay Packers, he could slide into the slot and immediately provide the ball-hawking presence that’s been missing from this defensive backfield. Complimented by Alexander and a solid pair of safeties, in Darnell Savage and Adrian Amos, Holland would have the freedom to make plays all over the field. If slot is still a need for the Green Bay Packers in the 2021 NFL Draft, Holland has to be on their radar.
