Chandon Sullivan

One of the more pleasant surprises last season for the Green Bay Packers was the emergence of cornerback Chandon Sullivan over the second half of the season. Prior to training camp beginning, Sullivan certainly wasn’t a lock to even make the final 53-man roster, but once he did, he saw his role increase over the course of the season.

Overall Sullivan was targeted 36 times but he allowed just 15 receptions. On top of that, he came away with an interception, allowed no touchdown receptions, he wasn’t called for a single penalty, and opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of only 43.1 when targeting him according to Pro Football Focus.

After taking 145 of his 378 snaps last season from the slot, Sullivan is a prime candidate to fill that nickel corner role with Tramon Williams still unsigned. With how often Mike Pettine plays with five or even six defensive backs on the field, this is a very important position on this Packer defense.

Although Sullivan fared well last season, I’m very interested to see if he can carry that momentum into 2020, secure the starting role in the slot, and play at that same level for an entire year with first-team reps.
