Former Green Bay Packers’ defensive lineman Mike Daniels made an interesting comment about a reunion with his former team.

Could the Green Bay Packers reunite with former defensive lineman Mike Daniels? According to Daniels himself, “You never know what could happen in free agency.”

After being drafted in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Daniels spent the first seven seasons of his career in Green Bay. During that time, he established himself as one of the best and most relentless defensive linemen in the league.

It took a while for him to finally receive the recognition he deserved, but he made his first and only Pro Bowl in 2017 after accruing 49 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 14 quarterback hits and five sacks. His numbers may not be that impressive, but he was mostly asked to take on blockers for his linebackers which reduced his ability to put up big stats.

Daniels was not only one of the Packers’ best defensive players during his time, but he was also an emotional leader. Undersized, he uses his passion and love for the game to fuel him and drive him on every snap. He never takes a play off and always gives it his all; endearing himself to fans in the process.

Green Bay released him late last summer and he spent 2019 with the Detroit Lions, appearing in nine games. At 31-years-old, it’s clear he’s not the player he once was, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a useful player for the Packers.

Green Bay ranked 23rd in rushing yards allowed last season and needs extra help on the line. Kenny Clark is a stud himself, but even he can’t do it alone. Daniels would be a great addition to a team that has a new found spunk thanks to guys like Jaire Alexander, Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith.

Green Bay doesn’t have much money remaining, but it’s interesting to see Daniels comment on a reunion publicly. Hopefully, the two sides are able to come to an agreement in the future.
