The Green Bay Packers could use another quality tight end on their roster and here are the top five free agents remaining at the position.

Tight end might be the biggest question mark the Green Bay Packers have heading into the 2020 season.

At the top of their depth chart appears to be second-year pro Jace Sternberger. Sternberger was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft, but missed a good portion of the season due to injuries. He only appeared in six regular season games, failing to catch a pass.

After him, veteran Marcedes Lewis, rookie Josiah Deguara and Robert Tonyan will be vying for snaps. Each player brings a different skill set to the table and it will be interesting to see how head coach Matt LaFleur uses them.

Without a clear starter or player who even appears to be close to starting-caliber, Green Bay could still add another veteran to the mix and these five guys are available in free agency:

5. Clive Walford

After being selected in the third round of the 2015 draft and spending his first three seasons with the Raiders, Walford has bounced around the last two seasons while battling injuries and only appearing in eight games total. He flashed some talent at the beginning of his career, but would be a no-risk signing at this point with the potential to cut him outright and not have to pay him much, if any money.

4. Luke Stocker

Luke Stocker has some history with LaFleur, having played with the Tennessee Titans for a part of 2017 and all of 2018. This should give the head coach some insight into whether Stocker would be a good fit for his offense in Green Bay. Known as a run-blocker, he could provide some extra beef in the run game.

3. Charles Clay

Charles Clay secretly had some pretty good seasons with the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins–racking up at least 500 receiving yards from 2013-2017. He’s taken a turn for the worse the last two years, failing to eclipse 300 yards, but it’s hard to blame him given the quarterback situations he’s been a part of. He could instantly be the best receiving tight end the Packers have if they reach out and make a move for him.

2. Delanie Walker

Now an old man at 35-years-old, Walker has struggled the past two seasons and only appeared in eight total games due to injuries. However, he made the Pro Bowl three straight years from 2015-2017 and could still have a little left in the tank, health approving.

1. Jordan Reed

Jordan Reed has dealt with a plethora of concussions throughout his career and should probably retire for his own health. However, if he gets cleared by doctors, the Packers should take a look at him. Not yet 30-years-old, Reed could provide some oomph in the Packers’ offense and give Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams some desperate help.
