Packers: 3 Undrafted Free Agents That’ll Push for a Roster Spot

Tipa Galeai EDGE – Utah State
The edge position in Green Bay is pretty well fortified with Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith, and Rashan Gary. However, with Kyler Fackrell now in New York, the Packers do have a fourth spot available and Tipa Galeai of Utah State is someone to watch.
Due to off the field issues, Galeai transferred from TCU to Utah State where he would become a full-time starter and a productive player as well. During that 25 game span, Galeai would record 119 tackles, including 24 for a loss with two interceptions.
In terms of getting after the quarterback, Pro Football Focus (subscription required) credited Galeai with 15 sacks, 20 hits, and 54 hurries. Not to mention that he’d total 38 run stops as well. Not too shabby, if you ask me.
In addition to being productive, Galeai has many of the tools that NFL teams look for in their edge-rushers. He has active hands, good length, and he uses a variety of pass-rush moves to get to the quarterback. However, what may hinder him at the NFL level is his size. At only 235 pounds, if an offensive tackle gets ahold of Galeai, he likely isn’t breaking free.
As is the case with any of these players there is certainly room for improvement and Galeai needs to put on some weight. But with that said, there is a lot to like about his game.
