Jace Sternberger

Truthfully the Green Bay Packers haven’t had reliable tight end production since the days of Jermichael Finley. However, it isn’t for a lack of trying. We’ve seen them bring in several high-profile free agents but outside of a few games here and there, none of them would stick.

Enter former third-round selection, Jace Sternberger who missed a portion of the 2019 season with an injury but he was able to flash a bit towards the end of the year and into the playoffs.

In his short time on the field, he has shown that he is a willing blocker, which is an important factor for Matt LaFleur, but where Sternberger can make the biggest impact in 2020 is in the Packers’ passing game.

By this point, it’s well-known that outside of Davante Adams and the emergence of Allen Lazard over the second half of the season, the Green Bay passing game was quite stagnant and they received little production from the tight end position on top of that.

But with Sternberger’s ability to line up inline or in the slot along with very good hands, and his ability as a route-runner, he has the potential to be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. This should not only give Rodgers another weapon in the passing game but the two could form quite the formidable one-two punch in the red zone as well.
