The Green Bay Packers could use some depth behind their starting cornerbacks, and any of these five remaining free agents would be solid additions.

The Green Bay Packers might not have a lot of cash to spend in 2020, but they could still feasibly squeeze another player or two onto their roster by doing some maneuvering. And one position they could use some quality depth at is cornerback.

Jaire Alexander and Kevin King are the clear starters and are one of the better tandems in the NFL. Alexander’s arrow is pointing straight up and he’ll only continue to get better as he refines his skills. King is much more up and down. He has the talent and skills to be very good, but is inconsistent in his play.

After Alexander and King, there are a lot of questions marks on the Packers’ depth chart. Josh Jackson, a former second round pick, hasn’t shown he can play in the NFL. Chandon Sullivan and Ka’Dar Hollman are others to keep an eye on, but Green Bay could definitely look at upgrading with a more proven player.

Honorable Mention: Tramon Williams

Tramon Williams doesn’t quite make the list, but he deserves an honorable mention given his history with the team. Williams likely only has one or two years, at most, left in the league and it would be cool to see him finish it in Green Bay. Williams is still serviceable from the slot and is a good veteran presence in the locker room.

5. Dre Kirkpatrick

Coming off a season-ending knee injury, Dre Kirkpatrick was released by the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of March after playing the first eight years of his career there. He has 10 interceptions and 65 passes defended throughout his career. At 6-foot-2, he would give Green Bay a good-sized corner to play on the outside and potentially move Alexander into the slot if they so choose.

4. Eli Apple

It’s been an interesting offseason for Eli Apple, to say the least. It was just 2016 when he was the 10th overall pick of the New York Giants, but he’s already about to play for his third team. Apple thought he had a deal with the Raiders earlier in the offseason, but it fell through. It was a one-year prove-it deal, something the Packers could get on board with. Apple is still just 24-years-old and has a lot of work left to do in the NFL.

3. Prince Amukamara

Another former Giants’ first round pick, Prince Amukamara is looking for his fourth team. After spending the first five years in New York, he spent one season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the last three with the Chicago Bears. He has 10 career interceptions and 78 passes defended throughout his career. Even better, he’s versatile and can play all over the field including that fifth defensive back spot Mike Pettine loves to start.

2. Darqueze Dennard

Darqueze Dennard would give the Packers someone to match up against inside wide receivers, something he primarily did with the Bengals over the past six years. His emergence as a nickel corner would be perfect for Green Bay and he’d provide good competition against the likes of Sullivan and Hollman.

dark. Next. Make or Break Season for these 4 Packers

1. Logan Ryan

We are not getting out of the Packers’ price range, as Logan Ryan is reportedly looking for something near $10 million a season. Regardless, he’s one of the best cornerbacks on the market and can play all over the field. Ryan doesn’t shy away from contact with ball-carriers, racking up an impressive 113 total tackles last season. That might be just what the doctor ordered for the Packers.
