Billy Turner

Having Billy Turner on this list may come as a surprise to some considering that he just signed a four year – $28 million deal last offseason. But the Green Bay Packers have an out in 2021 if needed, and for Turner to be around beyond this season, his play has to improve from 2019.

Turner did end up being an upgrade at right guard over Byron Bell – which isn’t saying a ton – but overall his play last season was still below average. And for a guard with an average annual value of $7 million, the Packers need more than that from him.

Looking ahead to next offseason, Turner comes with a cap hit of $8.05 million, but if Green Bay does in fact decide to move on from him, they suffer a dead cap hit of only $4.5 million. Thus saving them some cap space. Also keep in mind that this is a Packers team with several options along the interior of the offensive line.

Lane Taylor is still under contract for the 2020 season, Green Bay gave Lucas Patrick a contract extension towards the end of the 2019 season, and they just drafted Jon Runyan, Jake Hanson, and Simon Stepaniak, not to mention 2018 fifth-round selection Cole Madison.

The point is that Green Bay has plenty of options who aren’t going to cost nearly what Turner does. So if he continues with the up and down performances in 2020, it could very well be his final season in Titletown.
