If the Green Bay Packers want to swing a deal in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, they could target these three teams as potential partners.

It’s no secret that Green Bay Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst has been aggressive and busy in the first rounds of the NFL Draft. After initially moving back in the 2018 draft, he made a second deal on Day 1 to move back up and acquire Jaire Alexander.

He was aggressive again last season when he secured a trade with the New England Patriots to move up from their second first-round pick and grab safety Darnell Savage Jr.

Could another trade be in the works this year? It certainly sounds like it’s a possibility as Gutekunst recently told reporters, “I think we’ll be able to be as aggressive as we need to be. I like to move around. I think it’s a very good draft. I’d like to move around and get to the areas of the draft I think are strong.”

If Gutekunst and the Packers do decide to move up (or back) in the first round of the draft, here are three teams they could target in a potential trade.

New Orleans Saints

Gutekunst and the Saints already have a history of trading first-round picks dating back to 2018 when New Orleans sent Green Bay the 27th and 147th pick in the 2018 draft as well as their first-rounder in 2019 in exchange for the 14th overall selection that year. Now, they could do it again.

The Saints only have five picks in this year’s draft including the 24th overall selection. That’s a prime range for the Packers to target if they want to snag somebody who fell further than was expected or who they don’t think will make it to them at no. 30. New Orleans would maintain a first in this scenario as well as recoup at least one other Day 2 pick if not two early Day 3 selections to fill out their roster.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks love to wheel and deal on draft night, as they’ve traded their first round pick in each of the last eight seasons, including twice last year. This year, they hold the 27th pick in the draft, just a few spots ahead of the Packers. However, if Green Bay wants to jump someone in front of them, they could reach out to their old pal John Schneider.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have been busy this offseason and just completed a deal to acquire Rob Gronkowski and a seventh round pick in exchange for a fourth-rounder. That means young tight end O.J. Howard could be on his way out. Perhaps, the Packers could dangle their first rounder and one of their sixth-round selections in exchange for Tampa’s second (45th overall) and Howard. Sure they’d be dropping 15 picks in the draft, but they’d cross off their need for drafting a tight end early, as Howard is worthy of a flyer.
