Round 1: Denzel Mims WR – Baylor

Round 2: Cole Kmet TE – Notre Dame

Round 3: Logan Wilson LB – Wyoming

Takeaway: Even for the computers, drafting a receiver in the first round is a popular choice for the Green Bay Packers but this time it is Denzel Mims of Baylor. Mims fits the mold of a traditional Packers receiver with good height and very good athletic testing. He’s been excellent at making contested catches and he should have plenty of opportunities to make plays with Davante Adams getting a lot of the attention.

However, while I can get on board with Mims in Round 1, Cole Kmet in Round 2 is a deal-breaker for me. For one this tight end class just isn’t very strong and rarely do rookie tight ends contribute during that first season. Heck, sometimes not even much in Year 2. Given that the Packers were just one game shy of the Super Bowl, I’d much rather see them spend a top-100 pick on a player who can contribute right away.

Moving along to Round 3, I really like the Wilson selection here, it’s a very good value pick. But overall, the Kmet selection in Round 2 takes a bit of the shine off of this draft for me.
