The Green Bay Packers could consider consolidating picks in order to trade for a better selection in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

Green Bay Packers‘ general manager Brian Gutekunst has shown a willingness to move around in the first round of the NFL Draft in order to acquire the player he wants. He moved up in each of the last two drafts to acquire Jaire Alexander and Darnell Savage. Will he do it again in 2020?

The Packers have a couple of glaring needs yet to fill and might not feel comfortable waiting for the draft to come to them. If they decided to pull the trigger and aggressively target their man, here are three trades that could get the job done:

Shoutout to CBS for this one, as they included it in their 10 most-likely first round trade scenarios. It would be costly for the Packers to move up 10 selections, including their first and second round picks this year and their 2021 fourth. However, they recoup an early third-rounder to make up for their lost draft capital.

The Packers don’t have enough ammunition to move up much farther than 20, so this is the most realistic positioning. A trade here might signal a move for one of the top inside linebackers in the draft whether it be Kenneth Murray or Patrick Queen.

The Packers keep their second-rounder in this scenario (a valuable pick considering the wide receiver depth in this year’s class), but get rid of their third and fifth rounders instead. Green Bay made a similar deal last season when they shipped the 30th overall pick and two fourth round picks in exchange for the 21st overall selection. Again, this would be an ideal place to pick up one of the top inside linebackers.

The Packers have a recent history of making trades with the New Orleans Saints so why not do it again? In exchange for the 24th selection, Green Bay send out their first and third-round picks in this year’s class. It might take an additional sixth to get the job done, but let’s hope for the best in this situation. The 24th pick might be a bit too high for the linebackers, so Green Bay would likely be moving up to snag a wide receiver they really like.
