3. Austin Jackson, USC

Austin Jackson already has ties to the Packers, as his grandfather, Melvin Jackson, played offensive guard for Green Bay for five years from 1976-1980. Melvin started 34 games during that span and Austin Jackson could follow in his footsteps.

Jackson was a reserve as a freshman, appearing in every game off the bench. After missing his sophomore season following a bone marrow donation to his sister, he cemented himself as the starting left tackle for the Trojans in 2019. His play earned him a spot on the All-Pac-12 First-Team.

Jackson is very athletic and can handle speed off the edges. He is raw and needs some more coaching and time to develop–which is exactly what the Packers can offer him. If Green Bay were to draft him, he’d be able to sit a year or two while Wagner handles the starting duties and then work his way in as a starter in Year 3. It doesn’t help immediately, but Jackson has a higher ceiling than most offensive tackle prospects that are available at no. 30.
