Donald Parham

Finally, a pass-catcher for Aaron Rodgers. I didn’t guarantee a dynamic wide receiver, because I really don’t think any exist in the XFL pool that will translate well to the NFL. Parham, however, has a chance. Why does he have a chance? Because he’s 6’8″. If nothing else, he can be a red zone target for QB1.

But he’s more than that. He’s not some 6’8″ unathletic player who has simply benefited from having great genes. He can definitely play football too. He is a small-school product from Stetson University but put up some pretty impressive stats there. In his senior year in 2018, he caught 85 passes for 1,319 and 13 touchdowns, highlighted by a 257-yard 3 touchdown game in his final college game against Valparaiso.

With that said, the title of tight end is used loosely for Parham. He has a pretty lanky build and would probably struggle to block linemen and linebackers in the NFL unless he put on a lot of muscle so using him there would be a challenge, but hey Jimmy Graham couldn’t block and we paid him a lot of money over the last two years.

Parham doesn’t quite have the speed to play as a traditional wide receiver, running in the 4.6’s or 4.7’s in the 40-yard dash, but that is good speed for a tight end. Another way to use him is as a huge slot receiver. His speed would be enough to beat plenty of linebackers, and his size would overpower almost any slot corner. That’s the ideal fit for him and it could work in the Green Bay Packers’ offense.

Against inferior talent in the XFL, he dominated just like college and was able to bulldoze the smaller defensive backs and outrun them too. I doubt his RAC skills from those XFL games would transfer to NFL games where tackling is much better, but he has some solid speed and throwing short passes to him in space wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Finally, circling back to his physical gifts and upside, he is a huge red zone target. Not just his size, but his athleticism too. His 36 1/2-inch arms and 10 1/2-inch hands give him crazy range to go get any ball in his area, but what really separates him is his 38 1/2-inch vertical. A guy at 6’8″ who can get up like that is a quarterback’s dream in the red zone and giving Rodgers that kind of target to throw one up to in the end zone would be dangerous.
