Re-Signings

Marcedes Lewis

The Packers are short on tight end talent at this point so bringing back the “Big Dog” Marcedes Lewis seems like the right move to do. Lewis and the Packers agreed to a one-year contract worth $2.25 million and a signing bonus of just over $1 million.

Lewis will be back for his third year with the Packers and is a key cog in their run game. Even at his advanced age, he’s still a good run-blocking tight end, something Matt LaFleur and his staff seem to prioritize. Don’t expect Lewis to get too involved in the passing game, but he’s a quality third-string tight end.

Grade: B-

Will Redmond

Green Bay also brought back Will Redmond, a former third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers. Redmond, a defensive back, provided fine depth for Green Bay last season. However, he did his best work on special teams where he was all over the field. Redmond is a nice player to bring back, as the Packers continue to try to improve their special teams unit.
