Many of the top free agents are off the board, but here are some that are still available and could be good fits for the Green Bay Packers.

We are a few days into the NFL’s free agency period and so far for the Green Bay Packers, it hasn’t been nearly as eventful as the last offseason was. However, this was to be expected as the Packers have less cap spendable space this time around and in a recent press conference, GM Brian Gutekunst told us it would be like this:

"“We’re not going to be able to do what we did in unrestricted free agency like we did last year. I think that’s going to be very difficult just with the restraints that we have.”"

But that doesn’t mean moves can’t be made. We’ve already seen them bring in Christian Kirksey to help fill the hole at inside linebacker and shortly after they’d sign Rick Wagner to take over at right tackle with Bryan Bulaga’s departure. On top of that, the Packers would bring back Marcedes Lewis and Will Redmond.

Although after these additions Green Bay doesn’t have much spendable cap space left at the moment, there are ways that they can create more room.

Of course, the most notable option is to move on from Lane Taylor. Additionally, they could offer contract extensions to David Bakhtiari, Kenny Clark, or Corey Linsley, which would create more cap space in 2020. Not to mention that converting some of Za’Darius Smith’s bonus is an option as well.

With that said, I’m not sure how likely it is that the Packers are going to make a splash at this point. Any other signings that they do make will likely be middle-tier free agents like Kirksey and Wagner or cheaper options like Lewis.

So as free agency continues to unfold, here are some names to keep your eyes on for the Green Bay Packers.

Without a doubt, there are many other free agents out there but this group comes at positions of need for the Packers, could be good fits in Green Bay, and for the most part, they won’t break the bank.
