It was just reported that free agent linebacker Christian Kirksey will be signing a two-year deal with the Green Bay Packers.

It was just this past week that the recently released, Christian Kirsey, visited the Green Bay Packers among a few other teams. And now it has just been reported by Adam Schefter that he and the Packers have agreed to a two-year deal worth $16 million.

Since being drafted in 2014, Kirksey had spent his entire career in Cleveland and even played his first two seasons under Mike Pettine when he was the head coach there.

His best years came in 2016 and 2017 where he started all 32 games and totaled 286 tackles, including 17 for a loss, with six sacks and 13 quarterback hits. Kirksey would also have eight pass breakups and two forced fumbles as well.

Unfortunately, the past two seasons have been injury-riddled for him. Combined between the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Kirksey would appear in only nine games.

But it is worth pointing out that Kirksey is still only 27-years-old, he has some prime years left, and when healthy he was one of the more reliable tacklers in the NFL. Not to mention that as a former team captain and leader in Cleveland, he will be another great locker room addition.

With an average annual value of $8 million, Kirksey is going to play a significant role in this defense for the next two seasons and hopefully, he can help shore up the middle of the field. A place that Green Bay was gouged last season.
