The Milwaukee Bucks hope to avoid their doomsday scenario as they await word about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s potential injury.

The Milwaukee Bucks are hoping to avoid bad news, as they await the results of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s precautionary MRI.

In a tough battle against the Los Angeles Lakers that also forced Antetokounmpo to receive stitches on his lip, he took a hard fall in the fourth quarter. Like many times before, Antetokounmpo was driving hard to the basket. And, like many times before, his defender tried to draw a charge by exaggerating the contact. This time, however, Antetokounmpo got his left leg momentarily stuck underneath him on his way to the floor.

After laying on the floor in apparent pain for a few moments, Antetokounmpo got up like he always does and even finished the game. After the game, he had a black wrap on his knee and was limping around the locker room per The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.

With everyone hoping for the best on Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski does what he does best and dropped a Woj-bomb on the NBA world:

Later, The Journal Sentinel’s Matt Velazquez reported Antetokounmpo is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.

Assuming the MRI took place on Saturday, the Bucks should already have word about the status of Antetokounmpo moving forward. Hopefully, it’s nothing but good news. Regardless of it’s clean or not, don’t expect the reigning MVP to play anytime soon. Milwaukee will likely be overly cautious with their star and ensure he’s 100 percent before returning to the court.
