Free Agent: Halapoulivaati Vaitai

If the Green Bay Packers are looking to spend a bit of money but on a young player, well than Halapoulivaati Vaitai may be the answer.

Vaitai was a fifth-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and has started 20 games with 55 appearances over his career. He has been the Eagles swing tackle during that time and even played significant snaps during their Super Bowl run.

During the 2019 season, Vaitai would see 331 pass-blocking snaps and he would give up two sacks, eight quarterback hits, 13 hurries, and four penalties. Vaitai is big and strong but has had his issues on the outside against speed rushers.

At least initially, he won’t be an upgrade over Bulaga, but he would give the Packers a tackle with valuable experience and someone who at only 26-years-old is entering the prime years of their career. This would also free the Packers up in the draft as well, as they wouldn’t feel like they have to take a tackle early on.

However, with a reported price range of $8 to $12 million per year, he won’t be cheap and the acquisition could limit what they do elsewhere.
