Jared Veldheer

Jared Veldheer is probably going to be the most popular choice, as well as the most likely choice, and it’s easy to see why.

After retiring before the 2019 season began, the Green Bay Packers signed Veldheer a little over halfway through the season as an insurance policy. And boy did it pay off. In week 17 against Detroit after Bulaga left with an injury and then in the NFC Divisional round when Bulaga was fighting an illness, Veldheer stepped in admirably.

Over those two games, Veldheer would have 58 pass-blocking opportunities and he wouldn’t allow any sacks, quarterback hits, or pressures, and he wasn’t flagged one time. And it’s not like he wasn’t tested, the Seahawks lined up Jadeveon Clowney over him early and often.

However, as good as he was, Veldheer will be 33 before the 2020 season begins, he was previously retired, and I think over the course of a 16 game season, he will be exposed much more than what he was in the small sample size that we saw in 2019.

Veldheer would be a decent stop-gap at right tackle, but a downgrade, nonetheless.
