Maurice Canady

Maurice Canady was selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft where he spent his first three and a half-seasons with the Baltimore Ravens before being claimed off waivers by the New York Jets about halfway through the 2019 season.

He missed some time with injuries during his tenure with the Ravens and at best, he has mostly been a rotational player. However, this could be an opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to land an ascending player on a cheap contract.

While he did take some snaps in the slot, Canady was primarily lined up out-wide last season where he allowed a completion percentage of 63.4 percent, had one interception, four pass breakups, didn’t allow a single touchdown, and opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of 69.6 when targeting him.

Canady is a physical player and is still a bit of a roller coaster ride at this point in his career. He will go through stretches where he looks like a starting-caliber corner but then will struggle in others.

The addition of Canady could also be a great value signing as well. After making $720,000 last season, Canady is going to likely be the cheapest option on this list and as I’ve pointed out, this could be a nice opportunity to land a player on the rise.

We also can’t forget about the Baltimore connection. Green Bay’s Director of Football Operations, Milt Hendrickson, was a national scout for the Ravens before joining the Packers. And since his arrival, the team has already brought in a few former players from Baltimore.
