Green Bay Packers 2020 NFL Draft Big Board 1.0
9. Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Andrew Thomas was extraordinary for Georgia as a three-year starter and would have to transition to the right side if the Packers select him. Bryan Bulaga is a pending free agent who Green Bay would love to bring back if the price is right. However, if Bulaga goes, this could be a prime place to select an offensive tackle.
It might surprise you to see Thomas this low on the list, as some draft analysts project him to go in the top 15. However, there’s a possibility he falls further than that due to legit concerns. His footwork is a major question mark and could lead to some struggles early on, especially in pass protection. He particularly struggles against speed rushers.
He is an elite run-blocker, however, which could pique the Packers’ interest. There are whispers they might lean even more on the running game next season given Aaron Jones’ incredible talent and the depth at running back with Jamaal Williams. Thomas would provide them with an excellent player to run behind.
