The Green Bay Packers have a number of decisions to make on free agents this offseason. However, they should let these three players walk.

There’s plenty of conversation centered around what the Green Bay Packers should do with the likes of Bryan Bulaga (unrestricted free agent), Jimmy Graham (potential cap casualty) and Lane Taylor (potential cap casualty). However, they still have to make decisions on a number of other free agents.

In the business that is the NFL, they won’t be able to bring back everyone even if they wanted to. They have to prioritize money and make sound financial decisions for this year and beyond. Because of that, they should let these three players walk in free agency:

Geronimo Allison

After his surprisingly good start to the 2018 season was derailed by injuries that cost him the rest of the year, Geronimo Allison was never able to get on track in 2019. He looked slower than ever and dropped more than a handful of catchable balls. When he did finally haul it in, he was always a fumble risk.

In many ways, he represents the Packers’ receiving corps from last season. He worked hard, but lacked athleticism to truly make a difference. With Allison being an unrestricted free agent it’s time for Green Bay to move on from him. They should spend their time looking to upgrade their speed and skill level at the position.

Kyler Fackrell

Kyler Fackrell had a stellar 2018 season when he record 10.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. Unfortunately, he all but disappeared for the 2019 campaign largely due to the emergence of Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith.

With the Packers also having Rashan Gary waiting in the wings, Fackrell may be looking for an expanded opportunity elsewhere. He’d provide nice depth at outside linebacker, but might cost more than Green Bay is willing to pay for their fourth linebacker.

Jason Spriggs

You can add Jason Spriggs to the growing list of disappointing second-round draft picks in recent years. He hardly played throughout his Packers’ career and was a major liability when he did see the field. Even worse, he spent the entire 2019 season on injured reserve.

The Packers may choose to bring Spriggs back as insurance at tackle if both Bryan Bulaga and Jared Veldheer don’t return. As disappointing as he’s been, it’s difficult to final NFL-caliber players at his position. Still, my vote goes to moving on from Spriggs.
