Jacob Phillips LB – LSU

Queen’s teammate, Jacob Phillips is wrapping up his second season as a starter and up to this point, he has been LSU’s leading tackler with 105 on the season. Additionally he would record seven tackles for a loss with a sack and a pass breakup. Phillips is one of those players that does a lot well, from tackling, to shedding blockers, while also displaying solid range in the open field.

In his scouting report, Crabbs had this to say about what he sees in Phillips:

"“Had a nice interception and run-back for a touchdown against the Miami Hurricanes to open the 2018 season — got his hands on several footballs in underneath zone coverage and was played as the space LB vs wide splits to help space the field. He’s pretty consistent with his reads, he isn’t overreactive or impatient to explode and drive downhill in an eager effort to challenge — even though it can compromise his effort to make splash plays. He makes sure he keys it right. Shows good awareness as a wrap up tackler, does well to lasso ball carriers and make sure he’s getting a firm grip to help stop forward momentum — even if he isn’t putting guys on their backs.”"
