4. Special Teams Battle

This one is pretty straight forward, and, during the playoffs, the special teams battle always takes on a new level of significance. If New Orleans Saints kicker Wil Lutz makes his kick before halftime last week, Green Bay would have a date with them on Sunday. Packers’ kicker Mason Crosby has had an outstanding year, and they’ll need that to continue this week in a game that could have the weather be a factor.

In the punting game, Green Bay will need J.K. Scott to do his best work while Tyler Ervin continues to be explosive in his returns. Seattle has a pair of explosive punt returners themselves in Tyler Lockett and David Moore, and Lockett had been one of the NFL’s best on kick returns before this season.

Playoffs are what it’s all about, and you have to win in all facets of the game to come out successful. I’m going to open an old wound, but we all know what happened with Brandon Bostick. This Green Bay Packers’ team has been successful and well-coached this season, but that won’t matter if a mistake is made this week. As long as they go out and do their jobs, special teams can be an afterthought in a good way.
