Allen Lazard

A question that many had prior to the season and even a few months into it was in regards to who would be the Green Bay Packers No. 2 wide receiver. The thought early on was that it would be either Geronimo Allison or Marquez Valdes-Scantling, but both have had disappointing seasons. Instead it has been Allen Lazard who has stepped up and for the Packers’ offense to click in the playoffs, they’ll need him to continue playing well.

While Lazard’s coming out party was against Detroit in Week 6, he has really seen his role increase in recent weeks. The last two games he has seen 17 targets and hauled in nine of them at nearly 13 yards per catch with a touchdown. He also had a 103 yard receiving game against the New York Giants at the beginning of December.

It’s clear that Lazard has the trust of Aaron Rodgers and he’s become a favorite target of his on third downs. Not to mention that his emergence has helped open up the passing game for others – especially Davante Adams – and he is becoming another weapon that defenses have to worry about. For the Green Bay Packers to be their best offensively, they’ll need Lazard playing at a high-level.
