Troy Dye LB – Oregon

With the recent news that Dylan Moses will be returning to Alabama, the pool of linebackers in this year’s draft, just lost a talented player. Some of the top options still include Isaiah Simmons of Clemson and Kenneth Murray of Oklahoma, but who knows if they will be around when Green Bay selects.

And while inside linebacker hasn’t been much of a priority in recent seasons for the Packers, with Blake Martinez potentially on his way out of Green Bay as a free agent, it is a position that must be addressed this offseason. Whether that be in free agency or in the draft.

Enter Troy Dye who has put together a special career at Oregon. In his four seasons, Dye has totaled an incredible 382 tackles, 41.5 of which have been for a loss and 13.5 sacks. He’s also recorded five interceptions, 14 pass deflections, and three forced fumbles. Dye is a special athlete with great range and works well in space. Which is a must in today’s NFL.

Drae Harris of The Draft Network, gave this breakdown on Dye’s play:

"“He demonstrates very good reactive athleticism for the position. He is a run and hit, down hill linebacker that quickly diagnoses run/pass. He does a good job communicating with shifts and motions. He easily navigates through trash and is an excellent chase player when he is not play-side against the run. Has good athleticism and awareness to drop in space and does a very good job of getting underneath inside receivers and carrying a TE up a seam.”"

There are certainly many more players to watch for in this week’s upcoming Bowl games. However, these six come at positions of need for the Green Bay Packers and could have big impacts early in their careers.
