Tramon Williams

The 2018 season for Tramon Williams in his first year back with the Green Bay Packers didn’t provide him with much stability. Given the injuries and poor play in the secondary, Williams would be asked to play out-wide, in the slot, down in the box, and predominantly as the safety during the second half of the season.

However, in 2019 with the safety position now solidified with the additions of Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage, along with a healthy Kevin King to play opposite of Jaire Alexander on a consistent basis, it has allowed Williams to take over as the team’s primary slot corner and he has thrived.

While at this point in his career he may not be his same spry self that he was in his hay-day, according to Mike Pettine it is Williams’ intellect that makes him a good slot corner. This season Williams has allowed a completion percentage of 63.2 percent with an average of just eight yards per catch.

He also has two interceptions and quarterbacks have a passer rating of only 89.1 when targeting him. Not to mention that Williams’ coverage grade of 79.2 from Pro Football Focus is the 12th best among all NFL cornerbacks.

At the end of the season, Williams will once again be a free agent but given his performance in 2019, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to try bringing him back for another year.
