Green Bay Packers vs Washington Redskins: 5 Matchups to Watch
2. Green Bay Pass Rush vs Washington Offensive Line
Remember early in the season when Green Bay was manhandling teams? Well, the pass-rushers are still there, but they aren’t getting home as quickly. This Washington offensive line has some serious talent across the front, outside of left tackle where they’re starting a backup in the absence of Trent Williams. Green Bay’s defense thrives when they’re causing havoc with pressure and turnovers, and that is a major key for flipping the tide in this game.
The Green Bay Packers weren’t able to get any sacks on New York Giants rookie quarterback Daniel Jones last week, but they hit him five times. They also created three interceptions thanks to that pressure. When Haskins drops back to pass, Green Bay has to either get home or get close. This secondary is loaded with playmakers, but they can’t be in coverage forever because it will eventually break down.
For Washington, they’ve got studs in Brandon Scherff, Morgan Moses, and Donald Penn, who although he is aging, has played well for them this year. Center Chase Roullier has also improved every year of his career, and he is a top-five ranked center per PFF right now. This group has the hogs to protect Haskins, but this is a big battle for them against a Packers front that is loaded with pass rushers.
