The Green Bay Packers came away with a much-needed win over the New York Giants. Here are the gut reactions and highlights from their performance.

Although early on this was much more of a closer game than we would have liked, the Green Bay Packers pulled away in the second half and in the NFL a win is a win. Now the Packers move to 9-3 on the season to remain in control of the NFC North. As I do every week, I have my gut reactions and some highlights from their game, so let’s dive in!

  • December 1, 2019 against the New York Giants will now be known as the Allen Lazard game. He totaled his first career game of at least 100 yards and came away with a big touchdown reception in the first half.
  • Although it was a bit close for the first half of the game or so, the Packers were able to pull away and it was beautiful to see.
  • As rough as the special teams unit has been this season, Mason Crosby has been excellent. In the elements he hits a field goal to move him to 14/15 on the season and he’s still perfect on extra point attempts.
  • Please just fair catch the ball on punt returns moving forward. I’m begging you Green Bay.
  • Davante Adams didn’t see the end zone until last week but he now has 3 touchdowns in the last two games.

  • Credit to the Giants for bottling up Aaron Jones for the most part but I’d still like to see him get more touches. He is a player that regardless of the opponent or the matchup, you give him the ball.
  • Geronimo Allison had played the second most snaps this season among the receivers, but honestly, it was nice to see his role reduced today which gave more attempts to Lazard.
  • The Giants held the ball longer and ran more plays but the Green Bay Packers were far more effective and scored on three of their four first half possessions.
  • After a brutal performance on third down by the Packers’ offense, they were much better today. And yes, I’m aware this is a lesser opponent but I will still take it.
  • This season has been a bit of a roller coaster for Kevin King, but he comes away with another interception and leads the team.
  • We all know the run defense has been suspect this season but just like they were able to contain Christian McCaffrey, they were able to limit Saquon Barkley’s impact as well.
  • Against the Kansas City Chiefs, Aaron Jones had 7 receptions on 8 targets for 159 yards. Since then he has 10 total targets in four games.
  • Meanwhile the Green Bay Packers’ defense did very well on third downs, limiting the Giants to just 5-14.
  • Well what do you know, Za’Darius Smith had another sack and lived in the Giants’ backfield.
  • Speaking of Z, without a doubt he has been the Packers MVP through their first 12 games.
  • Bend but don’t break. And although the Giants’ offense saw the red zone just three times, the defense only allowed one touchdown.
  • Also of note, the Green Bay Packers’ offense was 3-3 in the red zone today.

  • Coming into the game, Daniel Jones had thrown 8 interceptions while also losing 10 fumbles, and the Green Bay defense was able to take advantage of his mistakes forcing 3 interceptions, including this one from Darnell Savage.
  • It was another quiet day for Marquez Valdes-Scantling, unfortunately.
  • What an absolute gutsy performance from Bryan Bulaga. Sprained MCL, poor field conditions, it didn’t matter. He’s a warrior.
  • More Kingsley Keke, please.
  • This Giants’ secondary isn’t very good and they were also missing safety Jabrill Peppers and Aaron Rodgers was able to capitalize a number of times on these weaknesses with 4 touchdown passes. One of which was to Marcedes Lewis!
