
5. Madison Bumgarner, SP
The Brewers were connected to Madison Bumgarner via trade rumors last season so maybe it finally happens in free agency. If that’s the case. the right-handed starting pitcher won’t come cheap.
At 30-years-old, his best days are probably behind him, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be a very good pitcher on his next contract. After two injury-riddled seasons, he bounced back last year and was able to pitch a full load. His ERA did creep toward 4, but he should be able to recover as he gets further away from his injuries.
Bumgarner might want a longer contract which could get tricky for Milwaukee. They aren’t really in a financial position to be able to pay someone into their mid 30s, but you never know. Bumgarner would anchor their rotation and give them the ace they desperately need.
