Shortstop is less of a need after the Brewers sent Trent Grisham and Zach Davies to the San Diego Padres in exchange for starting pitcher Eric Lauer and shortstop Luis Urias. Urias is a young player with potential, but it’s unclear if he’ll ever live up to it.

That’s where Didi Gregorious comes into play. Gregorious has bounced around a few teams in his MLB career including the Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees. Now he’s looking for another new home.

He returned from Tommy John surgery last season and wasn’t quite his normal self. That’s a risk the Brewers would have to weigh for the soon to be 30-year-old shortstop. However, a one year deal could bridge the gap until the team feels Urias is completely ready to assume everyday responsibilities at short.
