Before the Green Bay Packers take the field against the New York Giants, these are the three burning questions that I have about this matchup.

The Green Bay Packers are coming off of an embarrassing loss on Sunday Night football to the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Much like the Los Angeles Chargers game they came out flat and looked unprepared. However, if there is one team that you’d love to face after a week like the one Green Bay just experienced, the New York Giants are near the top of that list.

While it may seem like all doom and gloom in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Packers are still 8-3 overall and leading the NFC North. And this game will be a great opportunity for them to get back on track.

But before we get to Sunday’s game, as always I have my three burning questions about the Green Bay Packers and their matchup with the Giants this week.

Will Aaron Jones get consistent touches?

My guess the answer to this question is, yes. After each of the Packers’ previous losses, the following game they have made sure that they’ve featured Aaron Jones. Against Dallas, Jones would get 19 carries, rush for 107 yards and four touchdowns. Then against Carolina, he’d run the ball 13 times for 93 yards with three touchdowns. That coupled with what looks like will be some snowy and rainy weather in New York, is a perfect recipe for a heavy dose of Aaron Jones.

However, a concern that I have is that I even have to ask this question. Although Jones does play a much larger role this season under Matt LaFleur, there have still been games when he has been underutilized. This season he only has two games with at least 15 rushing attempts and in the last three games combined, he has four total targets in the passing game. It’s clear that the Packer offense is at their best when going through Jones, so regardless of the opponent or the matchup, they need to get him the ball every week.

Will this be a get right game for the Packers?

After another highly disappointing performance against San Francisco, the Green Bay Packers have a prime opportunity in front of them for a get right game, where everything will hopefully come together for a dominating performance.

We just discussed how Aaron Jones should be a focal point, but the Giants will also be without safety Jabrill Peppers and the rest of their secondary has really struggled this season. So hopefully in addition to Jones and Davante Adams putting up their usual numbers, we see the rest of the receiving corps have some much-needed success as well.

Meanwhile on defense the Packers feasted off turnovers early in the season but they’ve been much more sparse as of late. Well going against Daniel Jones they should have plenty of opportunities since this season he has thrown eight interceptions and lost 10 fumbles. Also of note, the Giants will be without their top two tight ends and as we all know that position has carved up the middle of the field against the Packer defense this season. Not to mention that in general, this Giant offense isn’t exactly full of big plays, which has also been an issue for Green Bay.

Based on the matchups, the Giants’ having key injuries, along with the strengths and weaknesses of each team, this is a perfect opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to put it all together and have a dominant 60 minutes of football.

Will they bounce back?

I’ve alluded to this question in the previous two and by all accounts they absolutely should. It’s a very favorable matchup against the New York Giants and Green Bay is 2-0 after each of their losses this season. However, it is a bit concerning that after their bye week in the biggest game of the season up to this point that they laid an egg. Not to mention that they had a similar performance just a few weeks earlier, and that is why this is a question.

dark. Next. Nickel Defense needs to be Diminished

With that said, ultimately this should be a blowout and a bounce back game for the Packers. They are just a far more talented team. But most expected them to win easily in Los Angeles as well. However, unlike in that game, they will need to come out with some energy and be prepared because with dicey weather conditions, a short week, along with another long flight, we don’t need to see the Giants hanging around in this game.
