These five players have been playing incredibly well for the Green Bay Packers and should strike fear in the heart of their opponents.

The Green Bay Packers are one of the scariest teams in the NFL. They keep finding ways to win despite not yet playing their best football. It hasn’t been pretty at times, but the Packers have racked up the W’s on their way to a 7-1 record. A big reason for their success in the first half of the season is a result of the fear these five players put into the heart of their opponents.

Aaron Rodgers

Aaron Rodgers is still a baaaad man. We had somewhat gotten use to a new normal for the two-time MVP, as he had played at an average level over the past couple of seasons. It was more of the same to begin the year, but he’s come on hot in the last few weeks. There’s no doubt he’s proven he’s still an elite quarterback and he should only get better with the return of his best weapon.

Za’Darius Smith

Who doesn’t love a Za’Darius Smith sack celebration? We’ve seen them often this year, as Smith has gotten after the quarterback a ton. Teams try to target the free agent acquisition, but it’s often difficult to do. He lines up all over the field including at outside linebacker and on the defensive line. This varies the looks he gives offenses and makes it difficult for them to key in on him. Look for Smith to continue to terrorize defenses as the year continues.

Aaron Jones

Aaron Jones is the breakout player of the year in the NFL. Fans of the team have always known the talent is there even when it was suppressed under Mike McCarthy. Now, Matt LaFleur is finding creative ways to use him other than in the run game. Jones is really showing off his pass-catching prowess and linebackers hate to match up with him on the outside. He’s a nightmare for defenses.

Preston Smith

One of the other big free agent acquisitions, Preston Smith, is having a great season. He’s not as noticeable as Za’Darius on the field, but he’s great nonetheless. Preston is likely the more complete player, as he’s both stout against the run and as a pass rusher. He also does a great job of taking advantage of the lesser attention and creates a great 1-2 punch for the Packers at outside linebacker.

Davante Adams

Adams had a somewhat slow start to the season, at least by his standards, before turning it on against the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, the career day ended with a turf toe injury just as he was getting going and he hasn’t played since. The good news is the Packers and Matt LaFleur may have figured out how to use Adams. it was clear they were targeting him early and often and he was a huge part of the gameplan. When he returns, look for that to continue.
