The Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night to move to 7-1. However, be wary of these three overreactions.

The Green Bay Packers continue to rack up victories-Sunday night’s win over the Kansas City Chiefs makes it four straight. Their 7-1 record puts them atop the NFC North division and in a tie with the New Orleans Saints for second in the NFC and just half a game back of the 7-0 San Francisco 49ers. All is good in Title Town.

However, the Packers still have a long way to go to reach their ultimate goal of winning another Super Bowl. Sometimes teams peak too soon in the regular season and are trending down once the playoffs begin. As of now, there are no signs that will be this year’s Packers, but Green Bay needs to keep its pedal to the metal in order to avoid any such letdown. After seven victories in their first eight games, here are three overreactions you should avoid.

Green Bay will never lose again!

Outside of a tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles that saw the Packers lose their top wide receiver in Davante Adams and get stopped twice inside the five-yard line, Green Bay is undefeated on the season. They head to Los Angeles next week in another winnable game against the Chargers. Still, there will come a time or two or three where Green Bay loses this season. They’re flying high right now, but they are far from invincible.

The Packers defense is really good!

All the talk at the beginning of the season was about the Packers’ defense. They shut down the Chicago Bears, before limiting the Minnesota Vikings and Denver Broncos. Unfortunately, it’s been tough sledding since then, as they’ve given up at least 22 points in every game. The unit that looked so stout after three weeks of the season has lost some of its mojo.

We saw it again when Matt Moore was able to dissect the Packers at times on Sunday and move the ball almost at will. That hasn’t been an outlier either, as Philadelphia and the Raiders have moved the ball all over the field. Green Bay has some good players and got off to a fast start to the season. Now they must rediscover their mojo or risk this season looking like so many others Aaron Rodgers has been a part of.

Green Bay doesn’t need a wide receiver!

Ever since Adams went down with a turf toe injury against the Eagles, the Packers haven’t lost. Even better, Rodgers has found his stride of late and is playing some very good football. Unfortunately, the Packers’ receivers haven’t quite stepped up to the plate and Green Bay has been forced to look in others directions-more specifically Aaron Jones.

While Jones has been excellent, Geronimo Allison, Jake Kumerow and Marquez Valdes-Scantling have been inconsistent. They disappear far too often and aren’t able to get open on a regular basis. With just a couple of days until the trade deadline, general manager Brian Gutekunst might be smart to explore the trade market for another wide receiver.
