The Green Bay Packers snuck out of Lambeau Field with a victory over Detroit Lions thanks to clutch play and a last second field goal.

In what was a weird game, the Green Bay Packers overcame an early 13-point deficit to overtake the Detroit Lions on a last second field goal to win the game. The Lions, coming off a bye, were prepared for this contest and pulled out all the stops. A flea-flicker on the first play of the game went for 66 yards to Kenny Golladay and set up the first of five Matt Prater field goals.

After a three and out on the first Packers possession, the Lions used another big gain on their first play of the series, this time a 58 yard bomb to Marvin Hall. They scored a touchdown seven plays later to take a 10-0 lead. The Packers turned the ball over three times in the game, two coming in Lions’ territory.

Fortunately, Aaron Rodgers and company were able to pull themselves together just enough in order to salvage a win. The victory moved them to 5-1 on the season and 3-0 in the division. Without further ado, here are three takeaways from the game.

The Packers proved they can overcome adversity.

Green Bay faced a lot of adversity in this game. They played uncharacteristically sloppy and failed to find their rhythm for most of the game. The Lions came prepared and did their homework during their week off, forcing the Packers off their game. Green Bay also found themselves playing catch-up after digging themselves an early 10-0 deficit that grew to 13-0 early in the second quarter.

Despite all that, the Packers never stopped fighting. They scratched and clawed their way back into the game one possession at a time and went home with the victory. With the game fresh in our minds, it may be an ugly victory. However, as time goes on, it will just be another win.

Green Bay has some work to do.

Perhaps, Green Bay’s 5-1 record masks their deficiencies. This is a team that has had their fair share of struggles to this point in the season, but have still been able to win games. Their run defense took a huge step forward this week, but they were gashed through the air for the second straight contest. They desperately need safety Darnell Savage back and cornerbacks Kevin King and Jaire Alexander to play to their potential.

Next. Packers vs Lions: The good, bad and ugly. dark

The refs didn’t lose it, the Packers won it.

There’s a lot of chatter about the two hands to the face calls the Packers were the benefactors of. Each penalty prolonged a Packers’ drive and allowed them to get crucial points each time. And make no mistake about it, they were very bad calls.

However, you won’t find any sympathy from Packers’ fans who have been on their fair share of bad calls throughout the years. Regardless, Green Bay still did what they needed to do in those situations. They still followed through and put points on the board where Detroit couldn’t. In the end, Green Bay made enough plays to win while Detroit didn’t.
