The Green Bay Packers wrapped up their Monday Night game with a hard-fought victory. Here are the gut reactions and highlights from their performance.

Tonight the Green Bay Packers fell behind quickly but they were able to battle back and tie the game. Although they had a number of crucial mistakes, the defense was able to stay strong and Aaron Rodgers was able to lead this team back in the fourth quarter. Here are my gut reactions and highlights from tonight’s win.

  • The Detroit Lions came out swinging with a flea-flicker and it would have gone for six had Jaire Alexander not chased down Kenny Golladay. Instead, the Lions settled for a field goal.

  • It’s been a rough start to the season for Geronimo Allison and on the Green Bay Packers’ opening drive, he had another crucial third-down drop. Then just before the half, he was called for a holding penalty that stalled a potential touchdown drive. However, he did have a couple of nice third-down receptions as well.
  • What an ugly first quarter from this Packers team, my goodness.
  • Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith continue to get after opposing quarterbacks.
  • It was a rough night for Kevin King. He was beat on the aforementioned flea-flicker and then the following drive would give up another huge play down the sideline. Matthew Stafford would continue to go after King after that as well.
  • The Green Bay defense clearly missed Darnell Savage tonight and it was evident by the number of big plays they would once again give up.
  • Speaking of the defense, they were in some tough spots tonight but as they’ve done for most of the season, they would bend but they would rarely break.
  • Way too many dropped passes tonight. Yikes.
  • The Green Bay passing game needs Davante Adams back as soon as possible.
  • David Bakhtiari already has seven penalties this season, including four holding.
  • As great as last week was for Aaron Jones, this week was rough. He would fumble as the Packers were nearing mid-field and then would drop an easy touchdown pass shortly after.
  • Jones may have struggled, but Jamaal Williams stepped up in his first game back from his concussion. Williams gave Green Bay a playmaker on offense and totaled 104 yards on 7.4 yards per carry with a receiving touchdown.
  • So many mistakes from this Green Bay Packers team tonight. Key drops from Aaron Jones, Geronimo Allison and Jimmy Graham with fumbles from Jones and Shepherd.
  • Last week against this Green Bay secondary, Amari Cooper had a huge day and tonight it was Kenny Golladay. The Packers have to find a way to limit the big plays.
  • Aaron Rodgers and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were finally able to connect on a deep throw.
  • When they were down 13-0, it looked like Green Bay would have to settle for a field goal but the Lions had too many men on the field during the field goal and it resulted in a Packers’ first down and an eventual touchdown. This greatly helped Green Bay get back into the game.
  • Marcedes Lewis is known as a blocking tight end, but he once again came up with a couple of nice catches.
  • Aaron Rodgers goes back to Allen Lazard with an absolute DIME!

  • So many mistakes!
  • Alright Brian Gutekunst, you’ve made some home run free agent signings already, now it’s time to trade for a receiver.
  • Ball game!

With tonight’s win, the Green Bay Packers are 5-1 overall, 3-0 within the division and alone at the top of the NFC North. They have a short week but are at home once again next week against the Oakland Raiders.
