The Green Bay Packers take on the Detroit Lions for the first time this season. Here are three reasons why they’ll stay undefeated in the NFC North.

The Green Bay Packers are getting set to take on the Detroit Lions in their sixth game of the 2019 NFL season. The Packers have gotten off to a good start, winning four of their first five contests. That includes two big wins over divisional opponents and last week’s victory against the Dallas Cowboys on the road. Momentum is clearly in Green Bay’s favor.

Each team has been struck by the injury bug so health, or lack thereof, will play a big role in Monday night’s matchup. Green Bay will be without stud wide receiver Davante Adams and rookie safety Darnell Savage. Each player has played very well this year and the Packers will have to figure out how to win without them.

Fortunately, Green Bay has been playing very well as a team lately. That should continue against Detroit, as here are three reasons why the Packers will earn their fifth victory of the young season.

3. The run game will have another great showing.

With Adams missing last week’s game, the Packers needed someone else to step up. Fortunately, Aaron Jones was their man. He had a great game on the ground and through the air and was able to ease the burden placed on Aaron Rodgers. Now, Green Bay gets their backup running back in Jamaal Williams back as well.

Williams and Jones form a good one-two punch and should be able to have a good game on the ground against the Lions. Mike Daniels has already been ruled out for Detroit and they might have some depth issues along their defensive line. If the Packers can control the line of scrimmage, it will be a long day for the Lions.

2. Packers defense will return to form.

After quickly gaining attention for their great play, the defense has taken a step back in recent weeks. They were gashed on the ground against the Philadelphia Eagles and couldn’t figure out a way to stop the bleeding. It was a different story against the Cowboys, as Dallas had their way through the air while making a comeback from down 28 points.

Although the Packers’ defense has been somewhat humbled, they still hold plenty of confidence. They should be able to use that to their advantage and return to the unit we saw in the first few weeks of the season. Green Bay will be able to shut down the Lions’ offense and help hold this game in check.

1. Aaron Rodgers will step up.

Although Rodgers has played better in recent weeks, we’re still waiting for him to have a monster game. This might not be a huge game stats-wise, but Rodgers will have his best game of the season. The passing game is certainly on notice after the receivers had a poor outing against the Cowboys. Look for everyone to respond and Rodgers to make some huge throws on Monday night.
