1. Za’Darius Smith

The Packers biggest free agent acquisition of the offseason has earned every penny, and then some, so far this season. Za’Darius Smith has been a beast and the tone-setter Green Bay needs on their defense. He hasn’t been afraid to say what’s on his mind and then follows up his talk with action on the field.

Through five games, he’s contributed five sacks, 11 quarterback hits and five tackles for loss. He’s been a force in the run game as well, consistently playing disciplined defense and playing to his assignment.

The Packers knew they had to hit on their free agent acquisitions and top draft picks. And, boy, have they ever. Just about all of the big acquisitions have lived up to the hype and then some, and it’s a huge reason why Green Bay is at the top of the NFC North after five weeks of football.
