2. Packers’ Pass-Catchers vs Eagles’ Secondary

This is a matchup that is a must-win for Green Bay, and they will have a lot of questions about their receivers if they don’t. The Eagles are 22nd in the NFL in passing defense, and they will be without top cornerback Ronald Darby on Thursday. Through three games, wide receiver Davante Adams has just 15 catches for 198 yards. The bigger surprise is that he has yet to score a touchdown after he came down with 13 of them last season.

Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Geronimo Allison are in a firm battle for the second wide receiver spot, and this depleted secondary is the perfect group for them to get rolling against. Valdes-Scantling presents a size mismatch for most defenders, and he will have the easier assignments all night with Adams taking on Philly’s second cornerback in Sidney Jones.

If the Green Bay Packers are unable to establish the run, their ability to move the ball through the air becomes all the more important. Green Bay built their dynasty with Rodgers cutting up defenses no matter the matchup. Over the past few years, he has been unable to do that. In a get-right game against a soft defense, he’ll be looking to get back to what made him a two-time MVP earlier in his career.
