Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Matchups to Watch
4. Packers’ Secondary vs Eagles’ Pass-Catchers
Last week, the Eagles were without tight end Dallas Goedert along with wide receivers Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery. This week, Goedert and Jeffery are both back in the lineup. The Packers were able to contain the Vikings’ pass-catchers, but there are some different style of beasts in this group. Zach Ertz is a top-five tight end in the NFL, and this group hasn’t matched up with a guy like him this season.
Tight ends have torn the Green Bay Packers up in the past due to their poor safety play. With the investments they made this offseason, they’ll be hoping to avoid that. The Packers are currently third in the NFL in passing defense, and they’ve been turnover monsters. They’re currently +6 in the turnover category, and they’ve been close on a few others. Extra possessions for the offense makes life easier on them.
The major player to watch will be cornerback Kevin King. After being the hero in Week 2, he was burned multiple times in Week 3. He will likely match up with rookie J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, who has a considerable size advantage, but King has to show that he can be the player that has flashed repeatedly in his young career. His major enemy has always been health. Now, fully healthy, he has a chance to shine on a big stage in Week 4.
