The Green Bay Packers come away with another win and here are the immediate reactions and highlights from what we saw.

It was another hard-fought game for this Green Bay Packers team, but they are once again able to come away with another victory and find themselves at 3-0 on the season. The offense had their moments but overall they had similar issues to what we saw against Minnesota.

Meanwhile, the defensive side of the ball was able to force some more turnovers and they were able to slow this Denver offense enough to help seal the victory. As always there are plenty of takeaways from this game but here are my immediate reactions and highlights from the Green Bay Packers’ week three performance.

  • Once again we saw the Packers offense get off to a quick start in the first quarter, but once they were off-script, they really struggled to move the ball. Of Aaron Rodgers 141 yards in the first half, 109 came in the first quarter.
  • Elgton Jenkins made his first NFL start and from what I saw he had a very nice debut, including a key block on the first Aaron Jones touchdown run.
  • We haven’t really seen this issue through the first two weeks, but the Green Bay Packers interior defensive line really struggled with slowing down the Denver running game.
  • After some questions surrounding Mason Crosby’s future in Green Bay during the offseason, he was off to a perfect start this season, making 3/3 field goals and 6/6 extra points prior to missing a field goal at the end of the game.
  • The Green Bay Packers defensive front struggled against the run, but they had another big day rushing the passer as they came away with six sacks against Denver.
  • Jaire Alexander continues to make big plays. He broke up what would have been a touchdown pass in the end zone, brought down Phillip Lindsay in the open field on a third down, and ripped the ball away from tight end Noah Fant.
  • More turnovers! A lack of turnovers has been a huge issue in the past for the Packers but they came into this game with five through two games and added another three today.
  • It was a rough day for Kevin King after a solid first two weeks of the season. He missed the tackle on Phillip Lindsay which led to a big play, he got worked by Courtland Sutton but was bailed out by a poor throw from Joe Flacco and then bit on a double-move before quitting on the route.
  • Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith just continue to make game-changing plays. Z. Smith had a third-down sack when Denver was in the red zone and P. Smith forced a fumble that led to a Green Bay touchdown.
  • It was a day of firsts for each of the Packers first-round picks. The 12th overall pick Rashan Gary recorded his first NFL sack and had a fumble recovery, while safety Darnell Savage came away with his first interception.
  • The Packers’ offense had some big contributions from Marquez Valdes-Scantling at receiver and Jamaal Williams at running back. MVS had six receptions for 99 yards with a touchdown and Williams averaged 4.9 yards per carry.

This Green Bay Packers’ defense bends at times but rarely breaks and has led this team to victory three straight weeks to start the season. However, the offense still has work to do as they have a short week to make adjustments before the Philadelphia Eagles come to Lambeau this Thursday.
